The Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) has signed in 2022 its first 21 grant agreements and has actively participated in over 60 industry events. 293 beneficiaries from 27 countries across the EU and beyond will receive a total €116 million in funding for the development of new bio-based products and materials, first-of-their-kind production facilities and innovative processes.

SustaiNext project is one of two new flagship projects funded to boost the competitiveness and resilience of the European bioeconomy and harness under-utilised resources as an alternative to fossil-based solutions. This will reduce the EU’s reliance on strategic imports and create new value chains, business opportunities and green jobs, particularly in rural areas.

CBE JU is playing a key role in driving the European Green Deal and related EU policies. By leveraging the potential of biological resources, it empowers local communities, stimulates job creation, diversifies income streams, and promotes sustainable economic growth.
