LEMON VERBENA AND ROSEMARY CROPS START TO REPLACE TOBACCO CROPS AS A PART OF SUSTAINEXT

On the occasion of World Agriculture Day (9 September), the SustaiNext project shared the progress made by our partner TABACOEX on its lemon verbena and rosemary crops.

Currently, 98% of tobacco cultivation in Spain takes place in Extremadura (the western Spanish region in which our project takes place), with 8,664 hectares in total. This industry is looking for new alternatives that provide economic viability to croplands and achieve greater social acceptance through healthier crops.

This is where the medicinal and aromatic plants proposed by the SustaiNext project come into play, emerging as a viable and profitable opportunity.
