The Spanish national newspaper La Razón has featured Natac — coordinator of the SustaiNext project — and its work transforming agricultural side-streams such as olive leaves and artichoke biomass into ingredients for medicinal and cosmetic applications.
The article underlines the value of circular bioeconomy solutions that upgrade agro-industrial residues into new bio-based value chains. Within SustaiNext, supported by the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU), the flagship facility in Hervás (Extremadura, Spain) is advancing towards next-generation, digitalised and resource-efficient processes, aligned with a zero-waste approach.
This is a strong example of how European support and regional innovation can strengthen sustainable botanical ingredient supply chains while contributing to industrial development in rural areas.
