On 9 June 2026, the SustaiNext project participated in the annual CBE JU Cluster Workshop dedicated to bio-based solutions for the food, feed and nutraceutical sectors, held in Brussels. The event brought together around 60 participants, including researchers, policymakers, industry representatives and stakeholders from across the European bioeconomy ecosystem.
Representing the project, Emilija Ivanova, from Natac, presented the latest developments of SustaiNext, the CBE JU flagship project developing a multiproduct biorefinery in Extremadura. The presentation highlighted the project’s contribution to advancing biocircularity, resource efficiency and sustainability in botanical extract manufacturing.

The workshop offered a valuable platform to exchange knowledge, identify synergies and explore collaboration opportunities with other European projects working on sustainable ingredients, alternative proteins, aquatic biomass and innovative bio-based solutions for food and feed applications.
According to CBE JU, food and feed ingredients currently represent around one fifth of its project portfolio, underlining the growing importance of bio-based innovation in building more sustainable, resilient and resource-efficient food systems.
SustaiNext is proud to contribute to this European community of innovators working towards a more circular and sustainable bioeconomy.
